Black bean beef with noodles

A classic Asian dish boasts some intense flavours in a thick sauce that will leave you completely satisfied.

Shopping List:

Sesame oil 10 ml¾ tbsp
Garlic clove 10 g2 whole
Capsicum 110 g1 whole
Snow peas 125 g1¼ cup
Bean sprouts 60 g½ cup
Ginger 3 g1 tbsp
Spring onion 90 g6 whole
Sauces & spices
Black bean sauce 4 g¼ tbsp
Hoisin sauce 31 ml2 tbsp
Noodles, egg 250 g2½ cups
Beef steak 500 g1¾ whole

Preparation Steps:

  1. Thinly slice the beef and the red capsicum

  2. Mince or crush garlic

  3. Slice the spring onions and the snow peas on the diagonal

Cooking Steps:

  1. Cook the noodles then drain and keep warm

  2. Place the beef, sesame oil, garlic and ginger in a bowl and mix together well

  3. Heat the wok or large frypan until very hot, add 1 tablespoon of oil and swirl it around to coat the sides

  4. Add half the beef and fry for 2-3 minutes or until the beef is just cooked

  5. Remove the beef from the wok/frypan, add a little more oil and cook the rest of the beef. Remove all the beef from the wok/saucepan

  6. Heat some oil in the wok/saucepan and add the spring onion, capsicum and snow peas and stir-fry for a further 2 minutes

  7. Return the beef to the wok and stir in the black bean and hoisin sauce and 1 tablespoon of water

  8. Add the noodles to the wok and toss to heat through

Serving instructions:

Serve immediately and top with bean sprouts
